The essentials of APT
Roadside
An automated regulatory concept, implemented
and tested on national, provincial and urban
road networks. By creating smarter traffic signal systems (TSS) and ramp-metering systems (RMS), we have laid the foundations for further integration of roadside and in-car systems.
In-car
Road users are better facillitated via real time customised information and advice on traffic situations and fastest routes.By linking cars and the traffic control centres, we have laid the foundations for further integration of roadside and in-car systems.
APT NORTH
Trials of automated roadside regulatory systems in other areas and with different partners. This has enabled a roll-out of the system.
APT WEST
Automated regulatory system fed with data from vehicles. This brings the integration of roadside and in-car systems a step closer via roadside devices.
APT SOUTH-EAST
Vehicles and private market parties are used as a point of departure for traffic management. This brings the integration of roadside and in-car systems a step closer via devices in the vehicles.
Outcome:
New traffic management opportunities (control, guidance, advice and information) to facilitate road users with new and improved services.
Consolidation and Innovation
What will APT do in 2017–2020?
Several projects are being prepared for phase 3 (2017-2020).
- 1. Consolidation projectsThese apply the previously successfully tested APT components such as Amsterdam Bereikbaar ( Amsterdam Accessible) whose objective is to attain maximum accessibility for the Metropolitan Region of Amsterdam (MRA).
- 2. Innovation projectsThese focus on the further integration of the roadside and in-car systems. It involves tests that connect vehicles and operational traffic management with real-time travel, route and navigation advice. Service providers and road managers will collaborate in these projects.
